In Smarter Teacher Leadership: Neuroscience and the Power of Purposeful Collaboration, Marcus Conyers and Donna Wilson connect current brain research and knowledge of adult learning to the process of development teacher leadership.  Their toolkit offers a guide to support improved collaboration and leadership. They show how metacognitive, cognitive, and affective skills can all be used as a pathway towards teacher leadership.

In their book, Tinkering Toward Utopia, David Tyack and Larry Cuban provide a historical analysis of our country's approach to societal change via educational reform. The book describes the political nature of various school reform efforts, the importance of involving teachers in reform, and the surprising reasons many efforts fail.

Robyn R. Jackson’s book, Never Underestimate Your Teachers:  Instructional Leadership for Excellence in Every Classroom, explores the belief that every teacher has the potential to become a master teacher.  She provides tools and strategies for building capacity for teacher leadership and explains how school leaders can help teachers develop the habits and the mindset of master teachers.
