Updates on National Board Certification

The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards has recently updated the dates for 2016-17 and released information about Component Four.  Component Four is available this year.  This completes the three-year rollout of the newly revised National Board process.  
2016-17 Important Dates and Deadlines for Candidates
Registration Window                                                                      April 1, 2016 -- January 31, 2017
Registration (includes a $75 nonrefundable fee)                        January 31, 2017
Component Selection (includes component fees)                      January 31, 2017
Change of Certificate and/or Speciality Area                               January 31, 2017
Change of Component Selection                                                  January 31, 2017
Withdrawal Deadline                                                                      January 31, 2017
ePortfolio Submission Window                                                     April 1, 2017 -- May 17, 2017
Component 1:  Content Knowledge Testing Window                 April 1, 2017 -- June 15, 2017
Score Release                                                                                 On or before December 31, 2017

Component Four has been released.
Effective and Reflective Practitioner

The focus is on one class.
     *Information gathered from families, community, colleagues, and other sources
     *Sound assessment choices based on the needs of the students
     *Connect assessment practices to student learning
     *Determine a professional learning need and a student need that guided advocacy,
       collaboration, and/or leadership


Submit:
     *Contextual information sheet (No more than 1 page)
     *Group information and Profile Form (No more than two pages)
     *Generation and Use of Data
       Includes Instructional Context form, Formative assessment Materials Form and evidence, 3
       student assessments, and Summative Assessment Materials Form
     *Participation in Learning Communities
      Based on teacher and student needs; must impact the current school year and the students but
​      collaboration and leadership can take place in the current or previous school year
     *Written Commentary (12 pages)
