​South Carolina Rural Recruitment​Initiative Teacher Expo

The South Carolina Rural Recruitment Initiative Teacher Expo is a one-day job fair designed to match teacher candidates to current and anticipated district vacancies.

The South Carolina Rural Recruitment Initiative Teacher Expo is open to certified teachers, recent college graduates of teacher education programs, and applicants who have applied to and met admission criteria for an approved alternative certification program in South Carolina. The Expo is open to candidates from all subject areas.

Walk-In Registration

If you pre-register above, there is no fee. If you plan to walk in the day of the event, you will need to pay a $10 CASH registration fee. We will not accept payment by credit card or check. Walk-in registration will begin at 9:30AM. Please enter the SC State Fairgrounds through Gate 6 off of George Rogers Blvd. Park and go to the front of the Ellison Building. Please review all of the information on this page to prepare for the event.

​All participants should download the Participant Information Packet and read through it carefully. You may want to print a copy for your records. You should also read through ALL of the information on this page carefully.

Anticipated Vacancies

Check back for update info when it becomes available.

Participating districts will provide us with a list of their anticipated vacancies for each subject area. These numbers are constantly changing and should only be considered a general estimate of the number of vacancies in each district. This document will be available the week of the Expo. We recommend downloading or printing a copy of this document for your reference at the Expo.

SC Teacher Expo Schedule
  • 9:30 - 10:00 - Participant check-in
  • 10:00 - 12:00 - Participants visit district booths. Interviews scheduled
  • 12:00 - 12:30 - Lunch break (Lunch is not provided for participants.)
  • 12:30 - 3:00 - Pre-scheduled interviews
Important Notes for Participants
  • All participants should enter the Fairgrounds via Gate #6 located off of George Rogers Blvd.
  • If you pre-register online, you will need to check-in inside the Ellison Building starting at 9:30AM.
  • You will be given a blank name tag when you check in. You will need to bring a pen or marker to complete your name tag.
  • Lunch is not provided. 
  • Wi-Fi will be available, but power outlets will be limited. 
  • There are no copiers on site. You must prepare your own copies before coming.
  • Children, spouses, and friends will not be allowed inside the exhibit area.

We strongly encourage all participants to set up a profile and post and application on the SC Online Educator Employment System.

Also, if you have not already applied for certification in South Carolina, you should do so prior to attending the SC Rural Recruitment Initiative Teacher Expo.

Documents to Bring to the Expo

​You should bring multiple copies of each document; a copying machine will not be available on site.
  • Academic transcripts
  • Teaching Certificate*, if currently certified in South Carolina or any other state
  • Letter of Eligibility, if issued by the SC Dept. of Education, due to pending certification status (PACE, CATE, etc.)
  • Driver’s License, Social Security card, or other proof of U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Resume
