Education: Michelle received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood and a Master of Education in Language and Literacy from the University of South Carolina. She earned an Education Specialist and Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.
Experience: Michelle began her career, while earning her M.Ed., teaching preschool and serving as a Reading Interventionist. After completing her degree, she taught for three years in Orangeburg as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher and then two years in Dorchester District Four as a Kindergarten teacher. While pursuing her Ed.D., she helped create a Special Education program at her hometown alma mater. After serving as a Resource teacher and Special Services Coordinator, she spent five years as an administrator serving in various capacities at Dorchester Academy. During her time as an administrator, Michelle also served as an adjunct instructor for Charleston Southern University, teaching a Literacy course.
CERRA: Michelle is a Teaching Fellow Alum of the 2007 Cohort at the University of South Carolina. After hosting Teacher Cadets in her Kindergarten classroom, she saw the value in the program in High Schools. While in her administration appointment, she trained and brought the program back to her school and went on to serve as a Teacher Cadet Instructor for three years. Finally, Michelle wanted to try her hand at teaching the one group of students she had not taught from the preschool to collegiate level: middle school. She most recently served as a ProTeam instructor for 7th and 8th graders.
