Education: A native of Walterboro, SC, Jean graduated from Walterboro High School in 1976. She earned a B.S. in Special Education from Winthrop College (now Winthrop University) in 1980 and a Masters as a Reading Specialist from Clemson University in 2006. She was certified to teach in 5 areas, earning Highly Qualified status in all.
Experience: Jean has been in education for 36 years now, having served 9 of those teaching special education and elementary education in Colleton County. She served 25 years as a middle school instructor and curriculum coach in Horry County, teaching English Language Arts, ProTeam, and Middle School 5. She served as a cooperating teacher for student teachers from Coastal Carolina University and a mentor for new instructors in her building. She also served for 10 years as a Homework TV instructor for the children of Horry County.
CERRA: Jean taught ProTeam, CERRA’s middle school course, during her last year before retirement and served on the CERRA Advisory Board. She currently serves as the Program Facilitator for ProTeam and Teacher Cadet in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina.
