Regional Mentor Training
CERRA has trainined nearly 1200 mentors through regional and district-sponored trainings since July 2007. Don't miss your chance to take advantage of this invaluable training this spring. CERRA offered 14 regional workshops in 2007-2008 and has now trained more than 3100 educators.

Train the Trainer
This comprehensive two-day training prepares certified mentors to be effective mentor trainers in their schools and districts. To complete the training requirements, you must co-train with a certified trainer at a future South Carolina Mentor Training. More than 70 school and district personnel from across the state took part in this training in the summer and fall of 2007. Registration is limited and will fill quickly. To participate in a Train the Trainer workshop you must have previously completed the 3-day South Carolina Mentor Training. If you are not certain you have done so, contact Martha Kennedy at 800-476-2387 for assistance.

South Carolina Foundations in Mentoring:
A Training for Those Who Work with Beginning Teachers

Intended audience

This training is particularly appropriate for support providers, supervisors of interns and pre-interns, subject matter coaches, master teachers, mentor teachers, teacher leaders, principals and administrators of programs which provide support for beginning teachers. It includes the principles and orientation concepts of the ADEPT program used in South Carolina.

Content

This three-day foundational training focuses on the knowledge, skills, and understandings critical to those who work with beginning teachers. It is guided by the belief that learning to teach is a career-long developmental process that involves continuous cycle of planning, teaching, and reflecting. At the heart of this work is the mentor’s ability to respond to each new teacher’s individual developmental and contextual needs and to promote the ongoing examination of classroom practice.
