ROCK HILL, S.C. — Former South Carolina Teacher of the Year and Teacher in Residence Jason Fulmer has been promoted to Program Director to lead CERRA’s mentoring program, South Carolina’s Teacher Forum and the CERRA Advisory Board.

“He is very well qualified for these areas by his experience as the State Teacher of the Year for 2004 and with his experience as a mentor trainer and a district supervisor for mentors in the Aiken County School District,” said CERRA Executive Director Gayle Sawyer. “Jason knows CERRA inside and out and his creativity and expertise will be invaluable to the work of CERRA.”

Fulmer has been involved with CERRA since completing a one-year residency with the Center in 2004 as part of his responsibility as State Teacher of the Year.

Following his introduction to the Center, he returned to Aiken County where he worked at the district level before returning to CERRA as a Teacher in Residence last summer.

His optimism and dream for a better future for education in South Carolina shine in his vibrant personality.

“Through the power of shared leadership, we can create quality schools in which we reduce apathy and inspire dreamers who not only dream, but also take steps to accomplish their vision,” he said.

As a dreamer, Fulmer has a grand vision for improvements to South Carolina’s education system and is eager to begin his new venture with CERRA.

“I look forward to honoring the voices and expertise of classroom teachers as we work to continue to advance the profession. I am still a dreamer and my dream continues to evolve and expand each school year. I look forward to working in partnership with educational partners across South Carolina to give feet to dreams.

Fulmer has served as Teacher in Residence for Region 2 (Savannah River) and resides in Aiken. Inquiries pertaining future training sessions can be directed to fulmerj@cerra.org.
