Federal Candidate Subsidy Funds Application Introduction
It is beneficial to read through the informational pages prior to beginning the application process.
Recipients of Federal Candidate Subsidy Funds will be selected among those retake candidates who apply online for retakes on National Board's website AND apply online for funds on CERRA's Web site before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Preference is given to candidates in critical need schools and special schools (designated by the State Board of Education). Recipients of federal funds will be notified no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, January 15, 2010 via email only!
The 2009-2010 Critical Need Schools are searchable at the South Carolina Student Loan website. You must first select 2009-2010 and then choose your district from the dropdown menu.
Special Schools are designated as:
- Department of Juvenile Justice
- Felton Laboratory School
- John De La Howe
- Palmetto Unified
- South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind
- Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School
Important: Funds are awarded to teachers based on poverty rates, district report card data and teacher turnover status of their individual schools (designated by the State Board of Education). The date and time in which the candidate applies online with CERRA for federal funds will determine who receives funds (first applied, first to receive).
