State Resources - Carolina Careers
Carolina Careers is not one program but a network of career education opportunities for students of all ages, from elementary school through college. In order to better prepare students to succeed in skilled careers, South Carolina has linked all of the State's existing career education programs, projects, activities, and organizations. - Commission on Higher Education

An innovative transformation has taken place within the Teacher Quality Division. The creation of a Web-based certification site has streamlined the process to provide each teacher with easy, convenient access to his or her personal certification file. This Web-based data bank is efficient, reliable, and secure. That's not all. Additional tabs offer essential information, updates, breaking news on higher education, ADEPT and Induction, Title II activities, and Teacher Recognition. - Education Oversight Committee
The South Carolina Education Oversight Committee(EOC) is an independent, non-partisan group made up of 18 educators, businesspeople, and legislators who have been appointed by the legislature and governor to enact the South Carolina Education Accountability Act of 1998. The Act sets standards for improving the state's K-12 educational system. The EOC provides regular, routine and ongoing review of the state's education improvement process, assesses how our schools are doing and evaluates the standards our schools must meet to build the education system needed to competein the next century. The committee accomplishes its work through five subcommittees and the full committee. Six of the ten strategic issues identified in the South Carolina strategic information resources plan of 1998 addressed improving citizens accessibility to government information, goods, and services: (1)Automated Access to Public Information; (2) Seamless Access to Government Services; (3) Using IT Resources Effectively and Efficiently; (4) Standards to Insure Interoperability; (5) Application of Current and Emerging Technologies; (6) Simple, Effective Means of Doing Business Using Technology. With these in mind, South Carolina has developed the mySCGov.com portal. This includes vertical areas of interests -- News, Government, Education, Business, Health, Public Safety, Environment and Tourism. A portalis a "one-stop shop" filled with information and service choices. Each of the portals caters to the needs of its users -- citizens, employees or businesses. The user is linked directly to the information source or service automatically, without needing to know which agency isinvolved. No longer will the user have to know and navigate a specific agency web site to find the information he wants. Also, a search engine has been incorporated to allow the user the ability to search for specific items. All pages containing information relative to the search will be displayed. However, links to all agencies home pages are available for direct access. In addition, each portal can be personalized to reflect a user's preferences. Nowhere else on the World Wide Web can South Carolina teachers find the most current South Carolina curriculum standards dynamically linked to an ever-growing collection of high quality lesson plans, curriculum and assessment items, as well as other Web-based classroom resources. This treasury of items can be explored and exploited using a powerful search tool.
