November 21

It is another glorious Saturday of running the family bus route and of moving the mountain of leaves in the yard.  They call it Fall for a reason. I recall the Bible saying that God has numbered all the hairs on my head…

This leads me to a couple of thoughts:  Since I do not have as much hair as I used to have, are my hairs falling out in the order they are numbered or are they falling out in random order?  And if they are falling out in random order, I need to thank Him for taking the time to renumber my hairs every day! Which leads me to conjecture:  if I go bald am I doing a service for God and therefore I can list it as a service project on my curriculum vitae?

Second, has He numbered the leaves in my trees?  If so, should I ask Him for a count so I will know how many more times I am going to have to blow this yard?  After six hours of yard work (mostly leaf related) I still see work to be done…but I am six hours closer!

Hyperbole you think?  Just this Thursday a friend was bringing my eldest daughter home and as she attempted to drive up my long, steeply uphill driveway (which was covered by wet leaves…you saw that coming didn’t you) she spun her wheels.  She did not just spin her wheels but she spun her large truck wheels and started sliding sideways.  So she parked at the bottom of the driveway and let my daughter walk up the hill.  Now that is a leaf problem.

Tonight it is just the girls and me.  My oldest is reticent to hug and is quite the opposite of the youngest who wants to curl next to you.  Sometimes I think she just wants to get underneath your skin… in a good way that is.  Soon she wants to wrestle.  She is a feisty little 10-year old and we enjoy wrestling.  As bed time approaches and the bout is nearing its end, she goes for one last strong move.  She does a round-house back kick with all her might… to my jaw (all in fun…I think).  I hear a pop.  Match done, it is a draw…I make the rules.  It was a good evening at home.
